Globalisation means connecting the world without facing any border barrier by any country. Role Of Technology In Globalisation not only connects people but also connects companies and governments as well.
Globalisation can be defined as “Globalisation is the spread of products, technology, information and jobs across the national borders and cultures.”When explained in economic terms, it can be said that the independence of the nation around the globe fostered through free trade. As mentioned earlier globalisation means connecting the world in all ways. Being connected was making people face difficulties like delivering things, communicating with each other, and many more. These problems were solved very quickly with the use of technology. The role of technology has been extensive in globalisation when looked at.
Let us discuss the role of technology in globalisation below:
Product delivery and digital delivery
The first thing required to globalise was to spread the products all over the world, which means if a person is ordering any product from some other country, it should be delivered to him in his own country.
The role of technology in this was the usage of smartphones, laptops, and smart devices. Almost 60% of the world population is using smartphones nowadays. People can order anything and everything online from any corner of the world and get delivered to their homes. Smartphones and laptops have also made products available in a digital form like books, videos, etc. which solves the problem of providing some of the products because they can be provided digitally.
Role Of Technology In Globalisation all over the world
The second was technology. Initially, it was like if a country has created some kind of technology like some software or some application. Only that country was able to use that, and it was tough to spread it to other countries.
The role of technology in this was to provide stores for applications and software like play store, AppStore through which a person can install any application from any corner of the world.
Availability of information
The third was information, initially, if a person wanted to know anything about a different country or another place the way he/she could gain the story would be very time-consuming books. Even the books would not contain complete information.
Role of technology in this was the internet, social media and search engines. Now if a person wants to know anything even if it is about his/her own country about any other state or whatever. Just a few clicks on google can give whatever information a person wants.
Home based jobs
Fourth thing for globalisation were jobs spreading all over the world. Earlier if a person wanted to work, he/she could have found a job in their city or own country. With the help of globalisation, a person from any country can quickly go to any other country and work there.
The role of technology in this way, providing the service was work from home and freelancing. If a person is having a PC or a laptop, he/she can sit in one country and work for a different country without shifting to that country. This was only the current role of technology for globalisation. Technology is going to play a broad role in the future to contribute to globalisation which is explained below:
As discussed earlier, globalisation includes spreading the product of every country all over the world. Now the role of technology in this is going to be producing the products at the same place they are going to be consumed.
Initially, only a few products were available digitally, like books and videos, but others had to be delivered. In the future, there will be technology 3D printers. A 3D copy of things will be created on computers and laptops and will be printed with the help of the 3D printer s, which will be the same as the originals.
I know this sounds like a joke, but no this is a plan for the future.3D printers will be something which can print anything and everything, the smallest things to the most significant things like buildings, houses, offices, furniture, food items, and many more.
The next thing would be energy; non-renewable sources are used a lot nowadays like petrol, diesel, coal, and many more which are available at different countries in the world and can be exported or imported due to globalization. People also use renewable energy sources like solar energy, wind energy, etc. Non-renewable energy sources are available for free but are not used that much when compared to renewable energy sources.
Shortly, the role of technology will be to increase the usage of non-renewable energy sources and also spread it all over the world. Non-renewable energy sources will be used in cars, at homes, commercial buildings, etc. This will also reduce the price of renewable energy sources because they will face competition from non-renewable energy sources. After energy and 3D printing, it comes to food due to globalisation food items from different countries can be easily imported and exported. But one problem with food items is that it remains fresh only for a certain period and can be only consumed up to that time and if they get damaged they will be of no use.
At the time import or export of food items the problem which is faced is its delivery time sometimes due to late delivery or transportation routes food items get damaged and wasted and due to which remain of no use. This problem can also be solved with the help of 3D printers shortly. Food items like grains, other eatables, chicken, meat, etc. would be printed so no delivery issues, no damage to food products, and no waste of food products.3D printing will also help to deal with problems like killing animals, shortage of food, etc.
Conclusion: Therefore, this was the role of technology in globalisation. I have given a detailed explanation about the current position of technology as well as the future role that technology is going to play. I hope this article proves helpful for the readers to understand the role of technology in globalisation and also gives a clear picture to them.
